What to see in Biharinath Hill/ Places to visit near Biharinath Temple

1) Susunia Hill : Susunia Hill is situated at the north western part of Bankura district in West Bengal and it is an extended part of Easter Ghats. Many rock climbing training program holds on here in winter by different rock climbing institutes and organizations on account of its elevation and convenient rock faces. Susunia hill is about 32 kilometers by road from Biharinath temple and takes more or less 1 hour to reach.

2) Joychandi Hill : Joychandi Hill or Joychandi pahar is situated at the Purulia district of West Bengal. Joychandi pahar is also well known for rock climbing like Susunia pahar. This place is also an emotion of Bengalis since the famous Bengali film ‘Hirak Rajar Deshe’ by renowned film maker Satyajit Ray had been shot here. A temple is also there at the top of the hill and you have to climb up 500 stairs to reach there. The scenic beauty from the top of the hill is mind blowing. Joychandi hill is about 40 kilometers by road from Biharinath Hill.

3) Baranti : Branti is now a well liked tourist destination in Purulia district on account of its splendid natural beauty with the combination of lake, hills and dense forest. The location of Muradi lake or Baranti lake at the foothill of Baranti hill makes the sight so charming that travellers cann’t resist themselves to come back here again and again. Baranti also offers one of the best sunsets in entire West Bengal. This place is about 20 kilometers by road from Biharinath temple.

4) Garpanchkot : Garpanchkot is a fort at the foothill of Panchkot or Panchet hill which was built by the king of Kashipur. A temple was built there too. The hill is covered with lush green forest of Sal, Tamal, Palash, Sonajhuri, which will refresh you with the fragrance of flowers and leaves. Damodar, the renowned river flows below this hill. The best time to visit Garpanchkot is winter, Spring (most recommended) and of course in monsoon. The distance between Biharinath and Garpanchkot is about 30 kilometers.

5) Panchet Dam : Panchet dam has been constructed across the Damodar river in Panchet area near Dhanbad of Jharkhand district. Panchet dam is one of the two biggest dams (another one is Maithon dam) built by DVC. Panchet dam is situated nearer to Asansole, the district headquarter of Paschim Bardhaman district. This dam is about 29 kilometers from Biharinath hill and temple.

6) Maithon Dam : Maithon is located at the border of West Bengal and Jharkhand across the river Barakar. This dam was constructed with special design to control flood and generate electric power. There is an underground power station which is probably the first in entire India as well as South East Asia. Apart from this technological part, Maithon dam is an attractive tourist places. Boating facilities are available over there with different criteria. In monsoon it becomes paradise for nature lovers. Maithon dam is about 39 kilomters from Biharinath hill.

7) Kalyaneswari Temple : Kalyaneswari temple is situated at Kalyaneswari in Asansole Sadar Subdivision of Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal. This temple is very much close to renowned Maithon dam. This small and ancient temple is very famous among local people since it is said that wishes get fulfilled here. It is about 35 kilometers from Biharinath temple to Kalyaneswari temple.
