Therefore, the village obtained its name from this river which is known as Tabakoshi.

Tabakoshi is almost six kms away from Mirik while it is about 34 kms to the main town of Darjeeling. It is well-connected via roadways:
By Air: Bagdogra is the nearby airport from where it takes one around 55 km to get into Tabakoshi. From the airport one can book a taxi or Cab to reach Tabakoshi, which will take 2 hours.
By Train: Tabakoshi does not have its own train station, but the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), which is around 60 km away from Tabakoshi. From NJP, you can hire a taxi, bus, or shared jeep to reach here.
