Darjeeling

Darjeeling is one of the most popular tourist destination in West Bengal , India. The town, Darjeeling was built up by British for their convenience and to take cold essence in this tropical country, India. There are so many reasons which made this town famous worldwide. As per history said, Previously Darjeeling was belong to Sikkim State. Because of its geographical position, Darjeeling was under close observation of British Raj and ultimately they were successful to capture this beautiful place on 1st February, 1835. From that time, Darjeeling belongs to state West Bengal, India.  After taking time, they made this town as a mini Scotland. They planted tea gardens , established some missionaries school etc., - actually they wanted to make this city as 2nd home within West Bengal.  

How to reach Darjeeling

By Air: The nearest airport to Darjeeling is Bagdogra Airport (IXB), located approximately 95 kilometers away. Bagdogra is well-connected to major Indian cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or book a shared vehicle to reach Darjeeling. The drive takes about 3-4 hours.

By Train: For those who prefer traveling by train, the nearest major railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), about 88 kilometers from Darjeeling. NJP is well-serviced by trains from various parts of India. Upon arrival at NJP, you can opt for taxis or shared jeeps to reach Darjeeling, which takes around 3 hours.

By Road: Darjeeling is well-connected by road, with frequent bus services from cities like Siliguri and Kalimpong. The road journey offers an opportunity to experience the lush landscapes of the region. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider driving from Siliguri to Darjeeling. The route is scenic but can be winding, so be prepared for a thrilling ride.
